Its that time of year again, when we migrate to Austin for SXSW; a week of music, micheladas, and BBQ. My favorite part of SXSW is when we return home to Brooklyn the worst of winter is usually over. SXSW marks spring’s arrival (it was only in the 40s when I went to the airport today at 6am – getting warmer!).

We have three bands, from three different countries, playing SXSW this year. Be sure to catch Brooklyn’s Fort Lean, Canada’s In-Flight Safety, and Belfast’s indie pop darlings GO WOLF at SXSW this year. And swing by our annual FREE day party on Wednesday @ Sidebar to see a killer free show (flyer/details below). Banners this year is made possible by our friends at Rhythm Superfoods, Chameleon Cold Brew, DO512, and Shapiro Bernstein Music Publishing. Shout out to all of them for supporting independent music and rock n’ roll!

In-Flight Safety Streams Forthcoming Album ‘Conversationalist’ Ahead Of Its Release + Pre-Orders Now Available

Following the release of singles “Animals” and “Caution Horses,” In-Flight Safety is streaming their forthcoming album of throbbing, guitar-drenched rock Conversationalist ahead of the album’s full release this fall. Picking up where the previous singles left off, Conversationalist sees the Halifax band dousing shimmering guitar riffs in white-washed folk inspired by their coastal surroundings to create ethereal rock that intensifies like a love letter and burns like a breakup album in one seamless flight where illustrious melodies reign supreme. Like navigating a space between Foals and the sweeping piano of Coldplay, Conversationalist soars on a crisp curl of introspective rock fated to lodge itself in your ears through the fall.

Stream Conversationalist below and pre-order the album now on iTunes before it’s released October 28th. And catch In-Flight Safety on tour in Canada, the UK and the U.S. this Fall (dates below and tickets available here on their website).

The ten tracks on ‘Conversationalist’ balance the light and the dark that is In-Flight Safety. You’ve got your guitar hooks that will get stuck in your head and make you want to dance all night long juxtaposed by lyrical imagery which invites you into the mysterious. It can be raw and haunting. Yet, always uplifting – with rich, thoughtful production that is anything but “Indie.” Mixed by Gus Van Go (The Stills, Hollerado) in Brooklyn, NY, Conversationalist is crafted with meticulous attention to detail. There’s beauty in opposites, and this record is both pragmatic and ethereal. It’s a love letter and a breakup in one album.
