Its that time of year again, CMJ is a week away, and we have four amazing artists in town this year for the music marathon. 2014 marked the year of Ooh La La partnering with our first international acts and I couldn’t be more proud to be bringing them over to the USA for CMJ. In-Flight Safety Streams Forthcoming Album ‘Conversationalist’ Ahead Of Its Release + Pre-Orders Now Available

Following the release of singles “Animals” and “Caution Horses,” In-Flight Safety is streaming their forthcoming album of throbbing, guitar-drenched rock Conversationalist ahead of the album’s full release this fall. Go Wolf Signs To Ooh La La Records, First Single Available TODAY

All the way from Belfast in Northern Ireland, Ooh La La Records couldn’t be more excited to announce Go Wolf as our newest signing! Leading with their dancey summer single “One More Night” and lots of love from BBC Radio 1, this is a band from overseas you’ll want to keep your eyes on. The song (which is what originally drew our attention to this talented young trio) is available for purchase on all digital retailers TODAY.

The Go Wolf origin story is almost too perfectly arty to be true: a poetry night in a Belfast barber shop. Chris enjoys Scott’s poem and notices their similar dress sense. Outside afterwards, a stranger notices the same thing. They start talking and decide to form a band. With the addition of Steve on drums and some killer songs, the trio have quickly become one of the most talked-about new names in the Belfast scene.

Full of style, charisma and a dedication to perfectly pure pop, the band have already supported the likes of The 1975, CSS and Jape, while frontman Scott has turned his considerable production chops to remixes for the likes of Ed Zealous and Ryan Vail. Like all the best partnerships, there’s a tangible creative tension between Scott and Chris, and it results in wonderfully realized pop music. Wallow in the sumptuous single Voices, a synth- pop confection as sophisticated as Phoenix and as intimate as The xx. Or see them live, where their infectious, rhythmic tunes recall the likes of Talking Heads and Little Dragon. Go Wolf are all about artful pop music that is simple, sensual and powerful.

What we’re listening to: Jonathan Wilson “Fanfare”




Thanks to our friends at WXPN in Philadelphia for introducing us to this psychedelic new record by musician/producer/songwriter Jonathan Wilson. XPN featured Wilson as their Artist to Watch in November of last year and we’ve been listening to “Fanfare” non-stop over the holidays. Available through Downtown Records, the album features beautiful guitar work combined with catchy melodies and silky harmonies. Recommended tracks: “Cecil Taylor” and “Future Vision” (wait for the guitar solo!)



2 Members of Pussy Riot Released From Prison

The music community can breathe a sigh of relief now that news has broken that Pussy Riot’s Maria Alyokhina and Nadezhda Tolokonnikova have officially been released from Russian prison. It is clear however that their spirit has not been broken as one of the first things Tolokonnikova shouted upon her release was “Russia without Putin!”. We look forward to seeing the bands plan for 2014 following this extravaganza.
